Methodology
How Nivesh's calculators are built: every formula visible, every rate dated, every input editable. Not a black box.
Most calculator sites hide the formula behind a black box: enter your numbers, get a result, no way to check the arithmetic. Nivesh is built the other way around. Every calculator shows the actual formula it just used, and every rate or statutory limit it referenced is dated, so you can see how current it is at a glance.
Every formula is visible, not just the result
Scroll down on any calculator and you'll find the exact formula behind the number above it: variables labeled, worked through with your own inputs. If a calculation involves several steps (say, converting CTC into in-hand salary, or working out capital gains after indexation), each step is shown separately rather than compressed into one unexplained final figure.
Rates and limits are dated, not evergreen
Interest rates, tax slabs, exemption ceilings, and statutory limits change, sometimes with a single Union Budget or RBI circular. Every such figure used across Nivesh's calculators is tracked against a "last reviewed" date internally, and calculators that depend on one show it on the page, so it's never presented as a permanent truth. If you're reading this some time after that date, treat the figure as a starting point and verify it against an official source, not as guaranteed current.
Editable inputs, not fixed scenarios
Every default value on a calculator, whether it's an assumed rate of return, a loan tenure, or a tax regime, is a starting point you can change. The point of showing a formula is that you can plug in your own numbers and get an answer that reflects your situation, not a generic illustration.
What this doesn't replace
A transparent formula is not the same as personalized advice. These calculators model general rules against the inputs you give them; they don't know your full financial picture. See the Disclaimer for what that means before acting on a result.
